Wander Over Yonder! Between seasons of Gravity Falls, I had the amazing privilege of working on Craig McCracken’s new show on Disney Channel as lead character designer for the early part. It was an honor being able to work with such talent on the show. Here’s a special pose of Wander and Sylvia I did for the model packet. More design posts to come as the season rolls out. Check the show out airing soon!

Motivarti Mentorship

image

Hey All! This Fall Semester I will be a Character Design mentor for Motivarti. I’ll be taking on one mentee this round and I’m very excited about it. If you have interest in applying to become my mentee, applications for the Fall 2013 program will open up next Monday, July 1 and conclude Wednesday, July 24 (after comic con). Below is a link to my profile page. Check out the other amazing mentors this round as well! Lots of talented people and it’s truly an honor being added to the roster.

Back when “Almost There” was in storyboard form, Lorelay Bove and I had ideas of how using After Effects’ mesh warp and puppeting capabilities could bring her concept art to life. Excited by this possibility, we, along with animator, Yoshi Tamura, decided to make this proof on concept after hours to show Ron and John what we had in our heads for the song sequence. The final version of the song did not use this technology with the exception of Tiana’s feather, but it did influence the look and feel of the final song sequence and would also pave the way for us making the end credits sequence.

Here’s an oldie, but figured I’d put it online. It’s the end credits sequence to Disney’s “Princess and the Frog” that I was the lead artist on. It was a wonderful and challenging experience for me as a first time lead, and am still happy with how it holds up. Truly a labor of love from the crew who helped make it beautiful. It’s credits include:

Lorelay Bove (design)
Jeremy Spears (storyboards)
Eric Daniels (effects)
Joey Mildenberger (effects)
Bob Bennett (effects)
Mario Furmanczyk (animation)
Erik Fountain (animation)
Clio Chiang (animation)

( also, bonus points if you find the “Pirates of the Carribean” Disneyland ride homage )

Here’s some character art from a setup shot I did for my project. Motorcycles are crazy hard to draw so I just modified an existing model for this purpose. I may post the fully composited image at a later date.
